How 911 Camera Sharing Fits Livingston County’s Vision for Safety

The Emergency Response Center in Livingston County, Michigan demonstrated the newest technology now available thanks to Eagle Eye Networks working in tandem with RapidSOS. With Eagle Eye 911 Camera Sharing, pre-designated cameras can be activated whenever a 911 call is placed from nearby, giving telecommunicators instant visual access to the scene for deep and constantly updated situational awareness.

For schools, offices, hospitals, or public places, emergency responses can now be informed with objective visual information rather than based only on the content of emergency calls themselves. That also means that bystanders or witnesses to an emergency can get to safety rather than stay on the line just to keep eyes on a situation.

Michael Kobaia, Systems Support Administrator Livingston 911 Dispatch, sums up why that matters: “So for me answering 911 calls, it can give me a better insight as to what is going on in a scene, or if there’s a big incident, I can direct responders there,”

And since 911 Camera Sharing is deeply integrated with the software environment emergency telecommunicators are already using, says Kobaia, “Setup is not difficult at all – it just works.”

911 Camera Sharing doesn’t only protect the public, either: According to Joe Bommarito, security account manager for Elite Fire & Safety and himself a former police officer, “It’s going to keep law enforcement safer. It can keep any first responder safer.”
